A 19th century French Midwives’ silver Lancet Case.
An unmarked French silver octagonal Lancet Case engraved as a prize to a Midwife, the body with the following inscription: ‘Prime D’honneur 1865 Mme. LeCointe Sage -Femme A Vignacourt. The case contains four lancets and two bone spoons or spatulas.
Mme. Marie-Madeleine LeCointe was one of two midwives working in Vignacourt at the time. [I am grateful to Isabelle Godard, whose family has a cabinet-making business in Vignacourt, for that information].
Good with minor wear to the lancets.
